Video

here are the 3 main videos from my last project, entitled glass onion.

this one is called fool on the hill.

this was the main piece were i really decided to focus on the organic and natural feeling of the images i was making. the hill is cut out of a photo of a log end, and the trees are cut out of photos of moss-ridden wood. i really like the feel this gives to my work, and i’m happy i went down this road. im really happy with the way this piece turned out, especially the shadows created by the lighting levels.

in this video, like the raindrops, i concentrated on layering things to create the depth and idea of perspective that it needed, and create the shadows i was after. my favourite example of this is where the sun comes round and behind the smoke coming up from the house.

fool on the hill

the piece is based on the mccartney song ‘the fool on the hill’. alistair taylor, in the book ‘yesterday’, reports a mysterious incident involving a man who inexplicably appeared near him and mccartney during a walk on Primrose Hill and then disappeared again, soon after mccartney and taylor had conversed about the existence of God. this is what the song is based on. i based my imagery on the lines from the song, in particular: “Day after day, Alone on a hill…But the fool on the hill, Sees the sun going down, And the eyes in his head, See the world spinning ’round.” the log represents the hill that the fool as built his house upon.

i really like the way the composition turned out and the light levels create the atmosphere, and the beautiful shadows i was going for.
